What is the Mammoth Village Gondola?

The Mammoth Village Gondola is an aerial gondola manufactured by Doppelmayr that links The Village with Canyon Lodge.

The gondola operates in both directions, is only open during winter (weather permitting) and has a capacity for 15 people (standing).

One thing to note is that you don’t need to be a skier or snowboarder to ride the gondola in winter, it is open to everyone.

It’s the gondola that gets you to the skiing action, what more could you want!?!?

Where Does the Mammoth Village Gondola Take You?

The Mammoth Village Gondola runs from The Village up to Canyon Lodge. Passengers can ride the gondola in both directions.

From Canyon Village you can access the chair lifts to take you further up the mountain.

How Long is the Mammoth Village Gondola?

The total ride time on the Mammoth Village Gondola is approximately 6.5 minutes from start to finish.

Starting at The Village at an elevation of 8,100 feet (2,469 meters) and finishing at Canyon Lodge at an elevation of 8,343 feet (2,453 meters), the gondola has a total length of 5,039 feet (1,536 meters) and a vertical gain of 243 feet (74 meters)

How Much Does the Mammoth Village Gondola Ride Cost?

A ride on the Mammoth Village Gondola is completely free and you don’t need a ticket. You can just jump in a enjoy the ride.

It essentially acts as a courtesy shuttle from the Village to Canyon Lodge.

It is not to be confused with the Panorama Gondola which transports skiers and snowboarders up the mountain in winter and provides scenic gondola rides in both summer and winter.

A ride on the Panorama Gondola is not free.

Operating Hours

The Mammoth Village Gondola only operates during the winter season and is open daily from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. (weather permitting).

Location and How To Get There

The Mammoth Village Gondola is located at The Village at Mammoth Mountain in California.

The Village offers a number of free 2-hour parking spaces, as well as paid parking in the general lot.

It is also the hub for the free town shuttles, with convenient bus stops for the Red, Blue, Yellow, Purple, Orange, and Green Line routes.

Leave your car and shuttle to The Village, where you can easily access shopping, dining, and the slopes via the bus or gondola.
