Breckenridge is a big ski resort. With three bases, five mountain peaks and nearly 3,000 acres you need a lot of chairlifts to access the mountain.

The Colorado SuperChair happens to be one of the most important chairlifts at the Breckenridge ski resort.

Located at the base of Peak 8, it is responsible for getting summer and winter visitors up onto the mountain.

Colorado SuperChair

The Colorado SuperChair, manufactured by Leitner-Poma, is a highspeed chairlift with a capacity for four passengers.

Colorado SuperChair Summer

In summer, the Colorado SuperChair functions as a Scenic Chairlift, taking passengers from the base of Peak 8 up to Alpine Camp.

You’re able to ride the lift in both directions which makes it a great family-friendly activity to head up the mountain and enjoy the beautiful weather and views.

If you’re feeling adventurous you’ll also find the Gold Summit Climbing Wall and the Alpineer Challenger Course at Alpine Camp.

Colorado SuperChair Winter

Launching from the popular base of Peak 8, the Colorado SuperChair takes you up to Vista Haus.

From there you can head back down to the base of Peak 8, head over to Peak 9 or make your way across to Imperial SuperChair, the highest chairlift in North America.

If you’re looking for beginner slopes then your best bet is to head over to the base of Peak 9 and catch the Quicksilver SuperChair up the mountain.

How Much Does the Colorado SuperChair Cost?

During winter the cost to ride the Colorado SuperChair is included in your lift ticket so you don’t need to pay extra.

In summer, a ride on the Colorado SuperChair (scenic lift ride) does cost extra although children under 4 ride for free.

Tickets for the summer scenic chairlift can be picked up at any of the ticket offices.

Colorado SuperChair Operating Hours

The Colorado SuperChair is open during the summer and winter season.

At the time of writing, winter operating hours were from 8:30 a.m. – to 4:00 p.m.

The Colorado SuperChair is located at the base of Peak 8 and the Breckenridge Resort in Colorado.

How To Get There

If you’re staying in Breckenridge then we recommend making use of the Breck Free Ride, which provides free transportation to resort base areas and throughout the Town of Breckenridge 365 days a year from 6:15 a.m. – 11:15 p.m. 

If you’re coming by car then there are two parking options available for convenient access to Peak 8 and the Colorado SuperChair:

Slopeside Parking (Peak 7 and 8)

Slopeside parking with access to Peak 7 and 8 is available at the Stables Lot (map below).

You can park here and pay using onsite kiosks or the Breck Park app. Parking at the Stables Lot is limited and you can reserve your spot ahead of time.

Downtown Parking

Alternatively, you can make use of Downtown parking (South Gondola Parking Structure, North Gondola Lot & Gold Rush Lot).

These lots are located in Town and offer easy access to Peaks 7 and 8 via the BreckConnect Breckenridge Gondola (aka BreckConnect) then head over to the Colorado SuperChair.

The Breckenridge Gondola (aka BreckConnect) operates during both summer and winter and is completely free for all visitors.

A few key things to note about the parking lot:

  • Parking can be paid for using the onsite kiosk or the Breck Park app.
  • Parking is limited but you can reserve a spot ahead of time.
  • Daily rates apply and are subject to change (hourly rates are available after 2 p.m.).
  • No parking is permitted between 2 a.m. – 6 a.m.
